General

What is Automagical Nudge?

Automagical Nudge is a productivity companion for Gmail, delivered as both a Chrome Extension and a Google Workspace Add-on. It acts like a personal follow-up assistant: helping you send personalized sequences, set smart reminders, and track all un-responded emails in an AI-powered dashboard. It works on both desktop and mobile so you never lose track of an important conversation.

Is it really free?

Yes. Automagical Nudge offers a Free-for-Life plan. You get a small monthly quota of automated emails and AI credits that refresh every month, making it perfect for light users.

Update (Nov 2025): We have removed the attribution (branding) from our free plan. You can use Automagical Nudge in the free tier exactly as a paid user would, just with a limited quota for emails and AI credits.

What’s the difference between the Chrome Extension and the Google Workspace Add-on?

The Chrome Extension has significantly more functionality than the Google Workspace Add-on. We recommend all users use the Chrome Extension for desktop and only use the Google Workspace Add-on for mobile usage.

  • Chrome Extension (Desktop): Full-featured experience. Access the Command Center, bulk nudging, analytics, and advanced template features.
  • Google Workspace Add-on (Mobile): Optimized for the Gmail mobile app. Use this to create/edit templates and attach nudges while on the go.
Do I need both the extension and the add-on?

You don’t have to install both, but many users do:

  • Install the Chrome Extension for everyday work on your laptop or desktop.
  • Install the Workspace Add-on to manage nudges and reminders from the Gmail app on iOS or Android.

Your nudges, reminders, templates, and analytics stay in sync across both experiences.

How do I use Nudge on Mobile?

The Google Workspace add-on can be found right within the Gmail mobile app. You will see the green unicorn icon in your Gmail Mobile app where you can create/edit new templates, and also attach/edit/AI Generate templates for threads.

Note: Other features found in the desktop extension are limited in the mobile app.

How do I install Automagical Nudge? (Simple setup)

Getting started takes about a minute:

  1. Step 1 – Desktop: Install the Automagical Nudge Chrome Extension from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Step 2 – Sign in: Open Gmail in Chrome. You’ll see a Nudge bar at the bottom of Gmail saying “Sign in to use Nudge features”. Click Sign in and choose the Google account you want to use.
  3. Step 3 – Mobile (optional): Install the Gmail Workspace Add-on if you’d like to manage nudges and reminders from the Gmail app on your phone.
I don’t see the Nudge sign-in bar. How do I activate Nudge?

If the sign-in bar at the bottom of Gmail isn’t visible:

  • Click the puzzle icon in Chrome’s toolbar and make sure Automagical Nudge is pinned (clicked to show a blue pin).
  • Click the green unicorn icon in the extensions bar and use the Sign in button in the popup.
  • Refresh Gmail after signing in so the Nudge panels and labels appear correctly.
How do I get started after installing?

Once the extension is installed and you’re signed in:

  • Click the top-most green unicorn on the right side of Gmail to open the Nudge panel.
  • Optionally create or customize a template under Templates.
  • Compose a new email and choose a sequence or reminder from the glowing Nudge bar at the bottom of the compose window OR from the sidebar by clicking the green unicorn on the right hand side of your Gmail screen.
  • Hit Send — Nudge will attach and manage your follow-ups automatically.

Core Features

How accurate are the send times?

Nudges and Reminders are built to be accurate down to the minute.

How do automated follow-ups (nudge sequences) work?

A nudge sequence is a series of follow-up emails that Nudge sends for you on a schedule:

  • You can add unlimited steps to a sequence.
  • Each step is scheduled for a certain number of days after your original message.
  • Once you hit Send on the email, Nudge quietly sends each follow-up at the right date and time — no copy-paste needed.
Do sequences stop when I get a reply?

Yes. If there has been a reply in a thread, a Nudge or a Reminder will 100% be deactivated.

Tech Note: Despite a Nudge or Reminder being deactivated on reply -- they may still appear as active in your dashboard or in the email thread when you load the Nudge sidebar for up to 30 minutes after they have been cancelled. Rest assured that the next nudge/reminder will not go out if there has been a reply on the thread.

Can AI help me write my follow-up emails?

Yes. When composing a sequence, click Generate with AI. Nudge will read your original message, summarize it, and draft follow-ups addressing the recipient by name if available.

Note: 1 AI Credit is used for every click of the "Generate with AI" button.

If I click Generate with AI multiple times, will it generate new messages?

Yes! You can also update your draft message and click the button to incorporate the latest edits into your nudge sequence.

How many nudges can I add in a sequence?

Technically, you can add as many nudges as you need to a template.

Can I add more emails on the fly to a template?

Not today. Once a template is made, you CAN edit the date/time/message, but you CANNOT add more emails to a nudge template at compose time. This feature is on our roadmap for 2026.

Who receives my Nudges?

The Nudge will be automagically sent to everyone in the To, CC, and BCC fields.

How do Smart Email Reminders work?

Reminders are like a powerful snooze button for any email:

  • You can set a reminder to bring a thread back to the top of your inbox at a specific time.
  • You can add multiple reminders to the same thread.
  • Reminders automatically deactivate if someone replies. This can be configured in your settings to *keep Reminders active* even if a reply has been done on the thread.
What’s the difference between a reminder and a nudge sequence?
  • Reminder: Nudge reminds you to follow up. The thread resurfaces in your inbox, but no automatic email is sent to the recipient.
  • Nudge sequence: Nudge sends automatic follow-up emails to your recipient according to your schedule.
How do I attach a nudge sequence to an email I’ve already sent or received?

You can attach a sequence even after the email is sent:

  • Open the sent or received email thread in Gmail.
  • Open the Nudge sidebar by clicking the green unicorn on the right-hand side.
  • Choose either a sequence or a reminder from the sidebar.
  • Click Apply sequence (or set your reminder) to attach it to that thread.
How do I see or edit an active nudge sequence on a thread?

You can see a full Dashboard of Upcoming Nudges and Reminders in your Command Center [icon on the left in Gmail on Chrome Extension]. Or, open any thread with an active sequence to see the green status banner (e.g. “Nudge active (0/2)”). You can manage the sequence from the Nudge sidebar or the Command Center.

How do I send bulk nudges (apply a sequence to multiple emails at once)?

In your Gmail inbox, select the checkboxes next to the threads you want to nudge. Click the small green unicorn in the toolbar (under the search bar) and choose the sequence template you want to apply. The unicorn ONLY APPEARS AFTER YOU CHECKBOX AT LEAST ONE EMAIL.

What is Inbox Monitor?

Inbox Monitor is an AI-powered list of emails that Nudge thinks deserve your attention.

  • It reads the last 500 threads in the last 30 days of your email.
  • It looks for messages you haven’t replied to or that appear to have open action items.

You cannot extend Inbox Monitor to go beyond 30 days yet, but this is on our roadmap for 2026. As the AI model optimizes, it will continue to get better at filtering noise.

What do the icons in Inbox Monitor mean?
  • 👁 (Eye): Open the email thread in Gmail.
  • (Checkbox): Mark the item as resolved for now.
  • 💀 (Skull): Kill this thread permanently for Inbox Monitor. This thread will never again surface in Inbox Monitor, even if new action items appear in the thread later on.
  • (Sparkle): Open an AI-powered auto-reply composer. (Note: Using this uses 1 AI Credit).
How does personalization work in my emails?

Nudge is built for 1-to-1 style outreach. The "Generate with AI" button can pull in the recipient’s name when it’s present in your draft. It will also summarize *the last email you sent* in your nudges. If you see it pull no recipient names, or pull your name in error -- that means it cannot determine the name of th recipient and may be using your signature block as its data. Simply add the name of the recipient in your draft and click Generate with AI again to pull the name properly.

Does Nudge support rich formatting like bold, links, or images?

Yes. Nudge has full rich-text support including bold, italics, lists, links, and inline images. Your formatting is preserved in templates, sequences, and reminders.

Important:

PLEASE NOTE that rich text in the Google Workspace Addon (on mobile) will requires inserting HTML. You can always use mobile with rich text by either (a) Creating a template in the Chrome Extension with rich text, then using it in mobile OR (b) Simply inserting HTML into your message when sending on mobile. We recommend option A.

Can I reuse my follow-up messages?

Absolutely. You can create and save an unlimited number of Reusable Templates for sales, recruiting, check-ins, and more.

Plans, Credits & Usage

What are AI Credits?

AI Credits power the AI features in Automagical Nudge. 1 AI Credit is used for every:

  • Click of the “Generate with AI” button.
  • Refresh of the Inbox Monitor.
  • Clicking to auto-reply to a message using AI in Inbox Monitor.
Do I need to buy an AI Credits pack?

No. You get 20 AI Credits per month, free, regardless if you are a free or paid user. You can upgrade your AI Credits if you want more credits to generate AI responses, use Inbox Monitor, and more.

Do my AI Credits roll over if I don’t use them?

No. AI Credits are designed as a monthly allowance. At the start of each new billing month, your AI Credits reset.

What is Email Quota and when is it deducted?

Email Quota is the number of emails Nudge can send on your behalf each month.

Quota is decremented AT the Nudge / Reminder send time, and not before. If you apply a sequence and someone replies to the thread before the nudge sends, you will not have used any quota for that specific nudge.

What do I get on the Free-for-Life tier?

On the Free-for-Life tier, you get 15 automated emails per month and 20 AI Credits per month.

Is there any email attribution in the free plan?
No! As of Nov 2025, we have removed attribution from our free plan. You can use Automagical Nudge in the free tier as a paid user would, just with limited quota.

What happens if I hit my Email Quota or run out of AI Credits?

If you run out of Email Quota, Nudge will stop sending new automated emails. Your active Nudges/Reminders will be held as pending for 24 hours. If you do not upgrade your plan within 24 hours, the pending Nudges and Reminders will be permanently archived. If you run out of AI Credits, you won't be able to generate new text with AI or refresh Inbox Monitor, but you can still send manual sequences.

Can I upgrade my plan?

Yes. Simply go to automagicalapps.com/nudge and purchase a new plan, which will update your quota. Then email support@automagicalapps.com so that we can cancel and refund your current plan immediately.

Do you offer refunds?

Sorry! We do not offer refunds for any plan that has been used. If you haven't used Automagical Nudge and your usage shows 0, then we are happy to fully cancel and refund your plan.

How is Nudge Different?

How does Nudge compare to tools like CloudHQ, Mailshake, GMass, or Lemlist?

Tools like CloudHQ, Mailshake, GMass, and Lemlist are powerful — but they’re often designed for heavy, impersonal mail merge campaigns that live in a separate UI from your inbox.

Automagical Nudge is different. We focus on:

  • AI automation that feels human: Nudge is not classic mail merge -- its an email sequencer with the ability to use AI to make your emails personal down to your last message. Inbox Monitor is a cutting-edge new feature that reads your inbox and helps surface action items that you missed. Never miss a sale or a support ticket!
  • Deep Gmail integration: Nudge feels like a native part of Gmail, not a separate platform.
  • Featherweight UX: Clean, fast, and easy to use — especially for solo operators, small teams, and busy professionals.
  • Reminders: Super fast and easy way to remind yourself of important emails, reminders that deactivate on reply.
  • Mobile Support: Get a super experience directly in the Gmail mobile app.

If you’ve felt overwhelmed by heavy outreach tools, Nudge is designed to give you 80% of the value with 10% of the complexity.

Who is Nudge For?

Which professionals get the most out of Nudge?

Nudge is valuable for anyone who relies on email communication. Our most active users include:

  • Sales teams: Close more deals with persistent, automated follow-ups that intelligently stop on reply.
  • Recruiters: Keep candidates warm and engaged throughout the hiring process without manual effort.
  • Founders & Marketers: Conduct personalized outreach at scale without blasting generic newsletters.
  • Customer Success & Account Managers: Ensure renewals, QBRs, and check-ins never quietly slip through the cracks.
  • Schools & Nonprofits: Simplify district-wide or community communications and announcements.
  • Busy professionals: Anyone who lives in Gmail and wants a gentle safety net for follow-ups and action items.

Command Center & Analytics

What is the Command Center?

The Command Center is your home base for Nudge. Open it by clicking the green unicorn icon on the left sidebar of Gmail. It provides a single-pane-of-glass view to see all active nudges/reminders, view recipients, and quickly cancel or edit sequences without hunting through threads.

How does Inbox Monitor decide which emails to show?

Inbox Monitor uses AI to spot threads in your recent history (last 30 days) that you haven't replied to or that appear to contain open tasks. It’s a powerful safety net that helps you catch important emails before they go cold.

Can I permanently hide a thread from Inbox Monitor?

Yes. Click the 💀 (Skull) icon to kill a thread. Nudge will stop surfacing that thread in Inbox Monitor, even if someone replies again later.

What analytics does Automagical Nudge provide?

In the Analytics section of the Command Center, you’ll see the number of nudges sent/completed/canceled, breakdowns by domain, and a historical view of nudges over time.

Troubleshooting & Support

Why does Nudge feel slow in my Gmail?

In most cases, Nudge runs very fast via the Chrome Extension. If you are using the Workspace Add-on (side-panel), it may feel slower as it is subject to Google's platform limits.

I installed the extension but don’t see the green unicorn or Nudge panel.

Make sure you have pinned the extension in Chrome, signed in by clicking the green unicorn, and refreshed Gmail. If you still don't see it, ensure you are using the Chrome browser.

I need a feature, can you help?
