Getting Started
How do I install it?
Visit the Google Workspace Marketplace and hit "Install" for yourself, or use an "Admin Install" for your entire organization.
Where do I find the app?
Go to Google Drive and look at the right-side panel. Click the Blue Unicorn icon to open the sidebar.
I don't see the side panel?
Look for a small arrow at the bottom right of your screen. Click it to slide out the side panel.
What files can I translate?
We support PDFs, Google Docs, Google Forms, Images, and all Microsoft formats (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
How to Translate
How do I select a file?
You do not need to open the file. Just single-click the file in your Google Drive list to select it.
How do I start translation?
With the file selected, the sidebar will update. Choose your Translation Engine (e.g., DeepL) and Language, then hit Translate.
It asked for permissions?
This is normal. If prompted, click "Yes" or "Get Permissions" to allow the app to read the file you selected.
Where does the new file go?
The translated file is deposited right back into your Google Drive, keeping the original style and formatting intact.
How long does it take?
Small files are instant. Larger files may take a minute or so—we will send you an email when it starts and when it finishes.
Can I translate multiple files?
Yes! Hold Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac) and click to select multiple files. Then translate them all at once.
Best Practices & Quality
Which Engine is best?
We recommend trying them iteratively. Start with Google, then try DeepL, then Systran to see which gives the best result for your specific document.
Is the AI perfect?
AI is amazing, but not perfect. Extremely complicated or intricate magazines/documents might not yield perfect results.
Does formatting break?
In most cases, no. Automagical Translate is designed to retain the style and formatting of your original PDF or Doc.
Pricing & Licensing
Is it free?
Yes! You can translate up to 5 documents per month completely free of charge, forever.
Individual License Limits?
An individual license caps at 50 pages per month and includes access to the Google Translate engine only.
How do I get DeepL/Unlimited?
For unlimited pages and access to all engines (DeepL, Systran), you need a School District or Business license.
